Took my 6 year old granddaughter on both the train and then the boat to Bowness. Very enjoyable , good facilities and bar on the boat. The only downside is that we went at the end of October and the train was full so i could imagine it might be standing room only in summer. Get on at the starting point of Haverthwaite rather than Newby Bridge for a better chance of a seat

It was truly an amazing place, with nature and a large lake, hanging forests and ancient houses. I spent a beautiful moment in the company of my family. We breathed a sigh of relief. Do not forget the experience of boarding the crouse. It is worth the experience.

Had a lovely visit to the railway today. The shop is well stocked, as is the café. The engine shed is open to look around with many interesting vehicles, both restored and work in progress. The family really enjoyed the train ride with a 20min stop over at lakeside before riding back. You can spend longer if you wish as the only limitation is the last train time. Thank you to all the staff who most welcoming. Overall a lovely afternoon and good value as well.

Did a return trip up to the lakes. Great ride on the train, nice gift shop and tearoom. Staff helpful and friendly. Surprised to have to pay £2.50 to park tho!

What a wonderful experience! It takes about 20 min one way. The train is beautiful. I recommend taking the first one. During the day it gets rather busy. We enjoyed it tremendously and I would highly recommend it.

Brilliant day out. Steam train journey to Lakeside and back. On arriving at Lake Side visited the aquarium beside station, plus the quayside, where trips can be made for a cruise around Lake Windermere . At Haverthwaite there,s a large car park. Toilets on platform. Reasonable prices. Well worth a trip. Excellent!......!!!!!!

Good experience and the kids enjoyed it. Its a short 20 minute ride there and 20 minutes back. Train runs every hour until the last train. The stop at Haverthwaite is good. Cafe, gift shop, playground and a good walk in the woods. Personally think it's a bit expensive for what it is but definitely good to experience once at least.

Beautiful old worldly steam train journey at an old fashioned slower pace much different from the modern world. We were straight of the boat and onto the train in no time for some fantastic scenic scenery along railway route. Don’t forget your beer from Haverthwaite Railway. Apparently they aren’t running out!

A lovely steam railway! Lots of big clean carriages but it needs it - very busy in August. Nice cafe and play area at Haverthwaite, spend an hour or so there and get the train back.
