We debated going here due to reviews mentioning poor service but we're pleasantly surprised by excellent and quick service. All four of us enjoyed our dishes too.

Came here after reading couple of reviews for a drink but didn't stay.
It is part of a White Water hotel complex which looked very tired from the outside and inside the building was no different.
Pictures are very misleading

My hubby and I had the chance to try some great pub food on my birthday last week. It was our first time here and we really enjoyed it.

Food is nice but service is lacking. We ordered our food and drinks and only half of our drinks came, we waited thinking the rest would be brought but never showed up so had to go to the bar and follow up. We had ordered a burger and requested two of the toppings to be taken off and when it came all the toppings were missing bar cheese so we had to ask for it to be amended. We were never given any cutlery and as we were sat outside it was hard to get the attention of any of the staff and no one seemed to be coming to check so we had gone to get our own cutlery from the other tables and then when we had finished eating the plates remained on our table for a good 20/25 minutes when someone came past we had asked about dessert to be told the kitchen was closed and there was no more food, only when I asked if there was a feedback form did they start to clear our plates away and ask if they could remove any of the glasses. I understand this is more of a bar/relaxed restaurant but a bit more care and attention to your customers wouldn’t go a miss, particularly when it’s basics such as everyone having a drink and cutlery to eat with. Overall we enjoyed our food but just a shame we were left alone for so long and for the meal to come to an abrupt end of the kitchen being closed.

We visited on the Thursday Steak & Wine night. The service was between non-existent and chaotic. We booked a table for 6pm but arrived to no staff present, eventually someone turned up behind the bar and we were able to order a drink and confirm we had a table booked. We were told to sit anywhere but were not given any menus or information. We sat for a while expecting to have someone come to the table with menus or to take an order. When this didn’t happen we went back to the bar and were told we had to order food at the bar, so we asked for menus. We placed our order for the steak and wine at the bar. No table number was taken. Every time food came from the kitchen there was confusion about who’s table it was for. When the food arrived we had no cutlery, napkins or condiments but the kind lady delivering the food ran round to find them for us.
The food I would rate as 5/5, whilst small (6oz) the steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was poor, the guy behind the bar had no concept of what service means - a simple comment when we arrived to show us where to find menus and to say that orders need to be placed at the bar would have made it less chaotic. Also, when his colleague unfortunately dropped a plate of food he came over and laughed, it’s just not what we expected! There needs to be someone front of house that can explain the process and take food orders and table numbers. The current barman is not capable of doing this and let down what could have been a lovely evening.

Chose this place on the basis of the other good reviews - but overall we were underwhelmed. Nothing major to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. Limited menu, flat bread disappointing. The table hadn't been cleaned properly from a previous customer.
Maybe we caught them on a bad day?

Really nice place to sit in front of the river! Food was OK nothing special, filled a spot but wasn't anything special . Asked for just some chips and he said we don't do just chips so had to order kids meal for just chips 🤦🏼♀️ over £7 a pint which you pay for the view if sat outside in the sun you don't mind.

Wow! What a true 'Hidden Gem' with a fantastic view over the Woodlands, River and Waterfall. Food and Service was amazing too. Also, if you're into Classic Motor Cars the Lakeland Motor Museum is literally seconds away.
